You’re probably familiar with massages and facials, but what about the rest of your body? If you want skin that feels brand new, it’s time to explore the world of body treatments. The two most popular are body scrubs and body wraps.
Think of them as a “facial for your body.” They are designed to exfoliate, detoxify, and hydrate your skin, leaving you glowing from head to toe.
Step 1: The Body Scrub (Exfoliation)
A body scrub (also called a body polish) is the ultimate reset for dull, dry skin. A therapist uses a special abrasive mixture—like sugar, salt, coffee grounds, or crushed nuts—mixed with aromatic oils.
They will scrub your entire body (excluding sensitive areas) to slough off all the dead skin cells. You are then rinsed, often under a luxurious multi-jet “Vichy shower.” The result is the softest, smoothest, most radiant skin you’ve ever had. It’s the perfect treatment before a vacation or a spray tan.
Step 2: The Body Wrap (Detox & Hydration)
A body wrap often follows a scrub, but it can also be a standalone treatment. After your skin is prepped, the therapist will cover you in a therapeutic mask and wrap you up like a warm, cozy cocoon.
Common types of wraps include:
- Detoxifying Wraps: Using seaweed, mud, or clay, these wraps are designed to draw impurities and excess water from your skin, often leaving you feeling lighter and more toned.
- Hydrating Wraps: A creamy blend of shea butter, aloe, or other nourishing ingredients is applied to deeply moisturize and soothe dry, parched skin.
While you’re wrapped, the therapist will often give you a relaxing scalp or foot massage. It’s a deeply comforting treatment that leaves your skin feeling firm and incredibly hydrated.
